Time Based Discount Pricing is a feature designed to reward early investors with discounted share prices, helping them get the best deal for their investment. This guide will walk you through the steps required to set up these discount price tiers for your offering.
Accessing the discount tier interface from within your deal portal
From within your deal portal, navigate to advanced settings. From the left hand navigation, select the “Incentives” tab. From this page you can manage existing discount tiers as well as set up new ones.
Setting up a new discount tier
- Click on the “+ Add New Tier”. This will create a new line item with the information you must fill out for this new discount tier.
- Add a start and end date. This will create the timeline for which your discount price tier will be available for investors. If you already have a discount tier active, the start date for any new discount tier you want to add must be after the latest end date of any existing tier.
- Set the desired discount percentage for this tier.
- (optional) Set a funding deadline. If you choose to add a funding deadline, this must be done prior to the start of the discount plan, and cannot be modified after the plan has started. This will create a timeline for investors to fund their offering (after they have signed) in order to take advantage of the discount plan provided.
- (optional) Add a heading for the discount tier. This line will be placed at the top of the discount price module, which will appear in the landing page and in the investor checkout. If left blank, it will say "Early Access Price" by default.
- (optional) Add a description for the discount tier. This line will be placed at the bottom of the discount price module, which will appear in the landing page and in the investor checkout. If left blank, it will remain empty.
There are a few variables you can use in the description which will generate specific values and update the values as changes are applied throughout our raise. They are as follows:
- [tier_percentage] will populate the discount tier percentage
- [tier_end_at] will populate the discount tier end date
- [tier_funded_by] will populate the the funding deadline
- [security_type_singular] will populate the security type for your offering
If there are any other discounts/perks being offered in addition to time based, these can be linked here in the description for further details.
7.Click on the “save” button under the funding deadline and then read and click “confirm” in the disclaimer popup. Please ensure all settings are accurate and are reflected in your legal documents prior to saving.
Plan vs Tier IDs
"Plan ID" and "Tier ID" are distinct yet interconnected elements used to manage and track different aspects of our plans and their respective tiers. The "Plan ID" is a unique identifier that increments only when there is a time gap between tiers. For example, if one tier ends in June and the next tier begins in September, these would be categorized under two separate plans, each with its own Plan ID.
On the other hand, "Tier ID" refers to the specific number assigned to each tier within any plan. Unlike Plan ID, Tier ID is continuous and does not reset with the commencement of a new plan. It serves as a sequential identifier that helps in tracking the progression and the number of tiers regardless of the plan they belong to. This continuous numbering facilitates easier reference and management of tiers across different plans.
Discount tier statuses and how to delete an upcoming discount tier
There are three statuses associated with your discount tiers; Upcoming, Active and Complete. Only one tier can be Active at any given moment. Any tiers prior to the Active tier will be marked as Complete. Any tier after the Active tier will be marked as Upcoming.
You can delete an upcoming discount tier anytime before the set start date and time. To do so, click the trash icon beside the discount tier.
Exporting Investments with Discounts
The final two columns of the investor table (which can be found from within your offering portal’s investors tab) will show which incentive plan and which incentive tier each investor is a part of (if they are a part of one at all). You can filter these columns, by clicking on the arrows, to more easily see how many investors fall into each incentive plan and/or incentive tear that you have set for your offering.
Investor and Engage Portals
Information regarding the discounted share price that an investor paid, the discount percentage that they were privy to and how much money they saved thanks to that discount will also appear in the Investor’s purchase record, which can be found in your company’s Engage portal for that offering.
Investors will also be able to see the discount security price and that they paid from within their investor dashboard, and in the post purchase summary page for that offering.
